Types of Endowments

Since 1971 the Carl Sandburg College Foundation has assisted over 8,719 students.  Many of these students are leaving their imprint on area businesses and organizations.  We invite you to leave your imprint by establishing a perpetual endowment with the Carl Sandburg College Foundation.  We offer two basic types of endowments - a Full Endowment and an Emerging Endowment.

Full Endowment
A full endowment is defined as minimum monetary donation of $10,000 from which the interest is used in accordance with the donor's request.  Each endowment is individually named and listed in the College catalog and related promotional materials. To maximize the growth of each endowment, 25 percent of the interest will be reinvested while the other 75 percent will be used as specified.   

Through the generous gifts of our friends and neighbors, we now have 50 endowments which provide scholarships or academic support.  (click here to view the Endowment Scholarships available to CSC students)

Emerging Endowment
To some individuals and organizations, $10,000 might seem a considerable sum to raise.  To address such concerns, the Carl Sandburg College Foundation established an Emerging Endowment in 1994.  The basic components are a minimum contribution of $1,000 and some financial contribution every two years.  The $10,000 plateau must be reached within ten years. To assist in the growth of the fund, 100 percent of the interest earned will be credited to the emerging endowment.

When an individual or organization reaches the $10,000 plateau, the Carl Sandburg College Foundation will implement the endowment requirements set forth by the donor and ensure the fundīs name is listed in the College catalog and related public relations materials. If an individual or organization is unable to meet the above specifications, the dollars donated will become part of an unrestricted endowment to be used as specified by the Foundation Board of Directors to support the mission of the Carl Sandburg College Foundation.
